Monday Mantras

Here we are another week down, another weekend a little too short and another Monday that feels bluer than the last. Some Monday's suck, but feel manageable. Today that is not the case. I mean I literally had to drag myself out of bed and splash myself with cold water to somewhat feel awake. But the day keeps moving even if we don't want it to and so I'm confident that today's Monday Mantras will do their best at making it a little less blue. Grab that extra large cup or maybe your second cup like me and together let's find tackle our Mondays!

Jimmy does it Again

I don’t know why, but this Monday I feel more drained an exhausted than usual. I was sitting in my 9 am class thinking it literally hurts to use my brain or sometimes I feel so tired my body actually aches. Thankfully I am starting to come back to life with my Venti extra shot macchiato from Starbucks, but I think it’s going to be one of those days where I consume more coffee than water. Other than coffee when I’m tired a good laugh always seems to lift my spirits up a bit like I’m sure there is some science behind this but genuinely laughing helps me feel more awake. And if you know me you know there are few things I love more in the world than Jimmy Fallon, and he tends to be a regular here on Monday Mantras. This Monday Jimmy is headlining with the one and only Bradley Cooper. If you want to watch, two people laugh endlessly and are hilariously cute together this video if for you, and I promise it will make your Monday a little bit more joyful!

RomCom's Hidden Gem

Do you ever come home after a long day and think I just need to watch something where my brain can completely shut off? Some days it feels like my mental capacity is drained even before lunch time so coming home to watching one of my usual favorites like scandal or suits doesn’t do the trick in letting me check out. I love them, but boy do they leave me feeling more emotional and conflicted than before (don’t act like you can’t relate about the shows you watch this feeling is REAL). Anything on Bravo or the Bachelor are usually my go-to TV shows if you are looking an hour of mindless goodness, but if you need to commit to a little more and your brain is begging for a night off I’m about to bless you with the hidden gem of romantic comedies. Netflix is filled with cheesy movies, and we have all been there when we pick a movie that we regret 5 minutes in but can’t turn it off. There’s also that one movie you scroll past thinking “okay if I don’t find something else I'll watch that.” For the longest time, those were my thoughts toward Chalet Girl and praises that I finally leaped because it is all the cheesiness, romance, laughter and unattainable love that a girl needs after a long day or any day. So do yourself a favor this Monday: have yourself an Olivia Pope dinner (red wine and popcorn) and settle in for 2 hours of Ed Westwick, Felicity Jones, the Swiss Alps, and romantic goodness. I’ll go ahead and say you’re welcome!

73 Reasons Why This is Everything

So I have this weird fascination with celebrities, and I know I am not alone in my obsession. I’ve always been this way since I was a little girl. There’s something about the glamour and the fact that they are real people that is so interesting to me. Also (while it's not my best attribute) I love drama especially when it involves parties that have no relation to me whatsoever so clearly knowing celebrity gossip is a hobby of mine. If you haven’t heard of Vogue’s 73 Questions you might have been living under a rock, but that’s what I’m here for and show you to the goodness. I’m not actually going to give you 73 reasons as to why these videos are everything for someone who loves celebrities (because we would be here forever), but I will tell you one of the main reasons why I love it. In about 6-8 minutes people like Blake Lively and Emma Stone go from being these beautiful mythical creatures that have accomplished more than I think I might ever achieve to someone who feels like they could be your best friend that you grab coffee with or do yoga with. Vogue has captured all the people we love to obsess over in a way we have never seen them before, and that’s why you’re going to hit subscribe this Monday and fall in love with your favorite celebrities all over again!

Currently Craving: the Perfect Dry Shampoo

Okay, let’s be honest washing your hair every day or even every other day is a task that is not for anyone who considers themselves to be anything other than Type "A." Also, all the hair experts would tell you that washing your hair every day is bad for it so ladies who do maybe invest in a shower cap to keep those locks healthy and fresh! But with all that said I fall into the category of someone who washes their hair maybe every 3 or 4 days, honestly, so I need to have good dry shampoo in my beauty cabinet. I’ve tried a whole range of them from the expensive, to the trendy, to the cult classic Batiste and none seem to leave me satisfied. I love my Nirvana White dry shampoo from Elizabeth and James simply because of the way it smells (I mean it's so dreamy), but I feel like after an hour or two my hair looks flat and dirty again. Batiste is always my fall back because you can’t beat that price (it’s 5 dollars), but I like to be in love with my beauty products. In the most cliché way, I want them to be something I truly could not live without, so I’m looking for y’all's suggestions on your favorite types of dry shampoo! I mean its Monday, after all, there’s no way all of us have perfectly clean and blown out hair right?! So comment below or send me an email with your top suggestions and it will be much appreciated! Also, let me know if you want me to share with you my journey to the perfect dry shampoo- I have shared all my previous tries below!

Okay, y'all after that I feel a little more capable of taking Monday on and even if you don't remember there is grace for the days that you just can't. Tomorrow I'm going to share an update on my life in Chattanooga and give y'all an inside look at my new room so stay posted for that, but for now, cheers to coffee and finding simple ways to make Monday a little bit better together!
